Start in the app. Settings is the source of truth for your library and account. This page covers import, language assets, sign-in, export, and deletion.
Import
Import audio as an audiobook or a DRM-free EPUB as an ebook. They never mix: a folder that contains both audio and an EPUB imports as two books.
On Mac, use the library Sources menu to import files or a folder. On iPad, import from Files, iCloud Drive, or the media library for audiobooks the system exposes. Protected (DRM) titles cannot be imported. AudioReader does not scan Apple’s private Books container on Mac, and iPadOS has no API for enumerating Apple Books EPUBs.
SpeechAnalyzer language assets
Audiobook transcripts use Apple SpeechAnalyzer on this device. The first transcription for a language may download Apple-managed speech assets. Choose the spoken language in Settings → Languages. If Apple does not provide the selected on-device locale for your OS and device, AudioReader reports it as unavailable.
Account and email OTP
You can use this device only, or sign in with first-party email OTP. There is no native social login in this release. Open Settings → Account to sign in, turn learning-data sync on or off, and manage transcript copy and optional analytics.
Export JSON and deletion
Use Settings → Account to export account JSON or request deletion. Deletion is requested, then completed by a server job. Local books stay until you remove them from the library. Original files outside app-managed storage are not deleted.
